Helping people find and follow Jesus.

A Final Word from Serbia

Chip at Miros - close upSometimes it’s like trying to drink from a fire hose! There’s so much going on: a full schedule, lots of conversations in many different languages, old friends, new opportunities and challenges. So, most days here in Serbia, it’s very difficult to find enough free time to stop and write a blog. In fact, as I’m writing, the rest of the crew is over at the church preparing for the fifth and final day of art classes that we are offering to the community here in Belgrade, the Serbian capital.

We’ve had a great response. Every night so far we’ve had more than 60 people in the classes. Among them are many who have no connection to the evangelical church in Serbia. The classes have been a great opportunity to bring church members together with their neighbors and give them an opportunity to build friendships while they’re learning some fun new skills.

Our team is tired—especially those who worked at the camp last week in Zajecar. Despite our non-stop schedule, though, everyone has continued to work together and do their very best to make the most of the opportunities before us. We’ve heard many expressions of appreciation for these classes and for our work projects. And several have asked us to pass on their thanks to all of you who have made it possible for us to be here. I know God will reward people for the many sacrifices that have been made on behalf of the church in Serbia.

Tomorrow (Sunday), at the very moment you gather to worship at FBCA (10am Dallas time), we will be gathering for our final church service here in Serbia (which meets at 5pm our time). We’ll gather to celebrate what God has done over the last three weeks and—more importantly—what He will do in the coming weeks to use what we have done to advance His kingdom in this country. Though we’ll still be separated by 6,000 miles, we all hope you’ll celebrate with us and thank God for all He’s done and all He will do. Most of the team is headed home this Monday and we all look forward to being back in Dallas and seeing you again soon.
